MultiContact Consulting Ltd. was awarded a non-refundable grant of 155,213,980 HUF from the National Research, Development and Innovation Fund for the implementation of the project entitled “TravelSec – Development of an AI-Powered Integrated Travel Security Risk Management and Service Platform.” The total project budget amounts to 258,068,400 HUF.

During the two-year implementation period, the project involves conducting targeted applied research in the field of travel security. Based on the research findings, an integrated IT solution will be developed that can be incorporated into corporate security environments and provide comprehensive support across the full spectrum of travel security management.

The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted how rapidly perceptions of security and the effectiveness of security systems can change, fundamentally reshaping their objectives, methodologies, and operational tools. This is particularly relevant for organisations where comprehensive security management practices have not yet been fully established.

Within this context, travel security management is expected to become an increasingly important component of corporate risk and security governance. Based on the research results, the planned risk management and service platform will leverage innovative technologies to ensure that both employers and employees can make informed decisions using up-to-date intelligence and are able to take the necessary actions as quickly as possible during security incidents or emergency situations. The project focuses on the following areas: travel security services, artificial intelligence, risk analysis, decision support, emergency communication platforms. The services developed under the project may, in certain situations, prove to be critical for safeguarding personnel, particularly in cases involving terrorist incidents or business travel to destinations with elevated security risks.

The project has already generated tangible market interest, both supporting its commercial viability and contributing to a favourable return on investment within a relatively short period. Development activities are being carried out at the company’s headquarters in Budapest, with the involvement of Hungarian software developers and researchers. The project commenced on 1 August 2020 and was originally scheduled for completion on 31 July 2022.

Project 2020-1.1.2-PIACI-KFI-2020-00093 is funded by the National Research, Development and Innovation Fund under the call for proposals Market-Driven Research, Development and Innovation Projects (2020-1.1.2-PIACI KFI).

Update

Based on the significant domestic and international interest in the project results, the project management and company leadership jointly made the strategic decision to extend the originally planned pilot phase. The purpose of the extension is to enable more comprehensive testing of the system under real-world operating conditions and to incorporate user feedback and recommendations into the final product through any necessary refinements and improvements. The required approval for the extension was granted by the National Research, Development and Innovation Office. As a result, the planned project completion date was revised to 31 December 2022.
